According to Google message, Gmail became first big mailing service that supports new safety standards MTA-STS and TLS Reporting.
비oth standards are extensions for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) that is a protocol used for sending of all emails today.MTA-STS and TLS Reporting assist email-services in establishing cryptographically protected connections with each other. In some kind, it is prevention of “man-in-the-middle” attacks (MITM). As it is knowm MitM-attacks SMTP are a significant cyber threat today, with their help operators of malware mailing servers can intercept, read and edit mail content of service users.
Two new safety standards should prevent hackers’ attacks by creation of special protected channel for mails exchange. This channel will use legitimate mail services. Thereby, Gmail may demand confirmation from other services about protection of SMTP connections prior to sending customers’ letters.
구글, Microsoft and Yahoo cooperated during the recent years in development of safety standards. As expected, services of these companies will follow Gmail’s example soon. MTA-STS and TLS Reporting standards will be effective when all other mail services will join them and will be created a network of protected connections throughout the world.
