S.M.A.R.T. Check is a misleading functional tab of the latest rogue hard drive defragmenters like Smart HDD and Data Recovery (their updated versions). You may actually see this word combination at the very screenshot of this badware program. When the virus comes to your PC it tries to imitate the features of some system optimization utility. It starts scanning (checking) your PC for availability of errors, bugs and other troubles. And, in fact, it reports of them. There are many fake system errors (critical errors) that are reported by the malicious tool. None of them must be trusted. The rogue simply wants you to make you its victim by offering users to effect the payment for the fake licensed version of this scam by suggesting you to obtain the activation code of it. Beyond any doubt, this is the mistake on user’s part, whereas some have already followed the deceitful tricks of malware developers, this having wasted their funds. Please be not in the list of those that were fooled by this rogueware. Instead of obeying the instructions of this hoax please carefully follow the removal guidelines provided below for successful elimination of this threat.

Apart from actually deleting fake HDD program (whatever name it has) another challenge is to fix the problem of missing files. As you probably are already aware of, the hoax hides the majority of your files and other important data (folders, pictures, desktop icons, shortcuts, even the programs in the Start menu). It doesn’t completely delete them but relocates them to other destinations (that are also hidden and were intentionally created by the malware). In order to fix this trouble of hidden files please pay attention to our recommendations provided below.

In order to remove fake HDD malware from your PC it is strongly recommended that you first run GridinSoft Trojan Killer. Use Win + E” hotkey combination to open “My Computer” window. From this stage (in the address field) you may insert the address of GridinSoft Trojan Killer’s site https://trojan-killer.net and download our recommended software. Install and update it, run the scan and remove all threats it finds. Then download two additional free applications called Unhider.exe and restore.exe . The download links are as follows:

Run both of them and reboot your PC. Good luck!
