So follow this article and find out how this virus spread on the Internet and hot to prevent infection with this virus.
About FairWare Ransomware
Victims of the attack find their web folder deleted, and in its place a ransom note pointing them to an online paste. This file is named ”READ_ME.txt” and it contains a link to a ransom note on pastebin – a web application for storing plain text. The message contains:
The PasteBin link includes a longer ransom note, with more details, asking the user to make a 2 Bitcoin (~$1,150) payment to a Bitcoin wallet, and also providing an email address to get in contact with the crook. But we all know that there is no guarantee that users who paid 2 Bitcoin will get anything back. Often after user sent the money scammers block any contacts with this user.
How FairWare spread via the Internet
FairWare ransomware does not ack like average ransomware what just encrypt users’ data, there is no decryption tool developed and, probably, there will not be any in the future, unless it update and began to actually encrypt data files. For now, external backups, such as external hard drives, etc., and internal backups, such as Shadow Volume Copies, for instance, is your only solution to restore data. You can try professional data recovery tools such as Recuva, PhotoRec, etc. to retrieve your files, if you haven’t got any backups. Still, this procedure is hard to novice users.
